I think that Diana Vreeland is the best editor in chief, ever. She was eccentric and progressive, and with that a huge source of inspiration. Her documentary The Eye Has to Travel is fabulous, and these two books are also great.

In Memos, The Vogue years, Diana Vreeland, you see typed letters that were sent back and forth about the realisation of Vogue. She dictated what she wanted to see and asked why some things didn’t turn out as was agreed beforehand, but there were also compliments back and forth. It’s a conversation between enormous fashion icons of then. Delicious to read.

Diana Vreeland, The Eye Has To Travel, begins at Harpers Bazaar in 1936 and ends in 1962. She made a revolutionary magazine that was incredibly modern and daring. She played with covers, something today’s magazines can learn something from. She was so creative! When she became editor in chief of Vogue USA in 1962 she upped the ante. Larger than life became her mission, it was art, travelling, and fashion, and everything high-level.These books are indispensable for the true lover of fashion.
