Christmas shopping in London

It’s a cliché, but we can’t get enough of christmas shopping in London. Every year, the Brits go the whole nine yards to decorate their cities into being even prettier than they already are. Department stores like Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols seem to contend for the title of “Best Christmas Window 2013” and Harrods seems to be winning this year…

Its theme: the Harrods Express; an extremely luxurious locomotive in which every window looks like a festive waggon, accompanied by beautifully dressed passengers (and lots of champagne). Every window is curtained with blinking christmas lights and, like this isn’t enough, there are two christmas trees of ten meters each near the entrance.

Each year, the Claridge Hotel has an enormous christmas tree in the lobby. After John Galliano and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz had the honour, it’s now Dolce & Gabbana’s turn to design the christmas tree. It promises to become a Sicilian spectacle with many Italian christmas traditions. Curious? Have patience! The christmas tree will be unveiled on 26 November.
