FASHION FOLK’S IT ADDRESSES
One of the privileges of being a fashion editor is that you’ve got to take many business trips to trendy fashion cities or exotic places to photograph fashion productions. When I made my professional entrance a long time ago, I was surprised at the totally different places all over the world where I bumped into the same people from the fashion industry. During a shoot in Marrakech, the American Harpers Bazaar stayed at our hotel. The swimming pool of the Delano in Miami was filled with models, and in Milan models, editors and photographers meet each other for drinks in the lobby of the Four Seasons. And in Paris we all made reservations at the latest culinary hot spot.
Fact is that the average fashion person feels very comfortable and familiar amongst LIKEMINDED.
In short, fashion folk seem to go on the same travels. Also outside of work. Fact is that the average fashion person feels very comfortable and familiar amongst likeminded.
This means that as follower of fashion you make sure you’re informed optimally. I’m addicted to (one of the few magazines I still buy every month) Condé Nast Traveller (information online www.concierge.com) and, of course, I check www.mrandmrssmith.com. On their site you can find destinations that comply with our fashionably sound demand of luxury, comfort and good design in their selection of boutique hotels and hip holiday houses. Everything you need for the perfect getaway.
From Smith’s 2013 list of choices, I can personally confirm that Alila- Uluwatu in Bali is stunning and that the spa in Como Shambhala is the best spa ever. And this Christmas, I’m going to book Blakes’s sexiest bedroom in London. I’d like to compliment this list with the best hotel lobby in the world, which is the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam by far.
