HOW TO: JACKIE O. MAKE-UP
Our Jackie (she already feels like a close friend) was also très stylish when it came to her make-up. Always subtle, well taken care of, never too much and always just very pretty. Well, I want that too. Together with Gigi Bowmer from Estée Lauder, I underwent a morning of maquillage to learn how to make a Jackie face myself.
1. Foundation, Double Wear Light (colour: 03)
It all starts with a good foundation. This Double Wear is easy to apply and feels subtle on the skin. Gigi’s tip: mix a drop of the Advanced Night Repair Serum with your foundation for an extra beautiful no make-up result ánd well rested look.
2. Concealer, Double Wear (colour: 02)
You use a concealer to hide imperfections of the skin. Even better to mix a bit of your eye cream with your concealer for a soft glow.
3. Powder make-up, Double Wear (colour: Sand 16)
Many women apply their powder with swiping motions, but this results in wearing too much powder which makes you look older. We don’t want that obviously, and so this is how you’re supposed to do it: add a bit of powder on your brush and start with your nose. Apply in circular motions (from the centre to the edges) and proceed to do your chin and forehead. Never underneath the eyes! That will, again, make you look older than you are, which you don’t need doing.
4. Blush (colour: 08 peach passion)
Beside your cheeks also a bit on the sides of your forehead. And a bit on the tip of your nose and chin. It creates depth.
5. Brow pencil (colour: nr 01 Soft Brown)
Shape your eyebrows a bit for a more defined look. It’ll amaze you how different you’ll look when your eyebrows are coloured in nicely.
6. Eye pencil, Double Wear Eye Pencil (colour: Coffee 02)
Apply the eye pencil on the top lid of your eye, the waterline. It’ll give your lashes a fuller and more seductive look.
7. Eye shadow, Pure Color Duo (colour: Cobblestones)
After tracing a line with your eye pencil, dab a bit of eye shadow over it. It will fix everything and makes sure everything stays put. So don’t forget.
8. Eyeliner Double Wear Zero Smudge Liquid (colour: 02 brown)
If you have a hard time tracing a thin line, go for the easy option and draw a very thin line first. If you mess up then make the line a bit thicker. Also keep a cotton swab within hand reach for the mistake or two.
9. Lash primer plus
Use this primer before applying your regular mascara. The primer makes sure your lashes are fuller by lengthening them and increasing their volume.
10. Sumptuous Mascara
Apply the mascara first on your top lashes, afterwards the ones at the bottom. Begin with the base of your lashes and work in zigzags to the tips. And apply a bit of pressure on the tips to create a nice curl.
11. Lip pencil Double Wear (colour: 03 tawny)
Colour your lips with the pencil for a long lasting effect.
12. Lipstick Pure Color (colour: Hot Coralline.)
Colour your lips with the lipstick. Because you used the pencil as basis, the effect is extra nice and deep.
And, tada! Your Jackie look is finished. Not too much, nothing too exuberant, just really pretty. Yesterday, I decided I couldn’t stay home with a make-up like this. I had to go out. And there I was, on a Monday evening, in a restaurant being fancy. Jackie O would’ve been proud.
