OH ILSE…
I’m going to be really honest. I sometimes listen to Sky Radio (almost every day) and whenever I hear a country song, it might happen that I turn up the volume slightly. Especially when it’s Ilse de Lange. I swoon when I hear ‘We are one’. Well, swoon is perhaps not the right word because it’s actually a very sad song about her deceased father.
And what about that song ‘I still cry’? A genuine tear-jerker. Glass of wine, light some candles, turn on the fireplace (if I had one), girlfriends over and Ilse, somewhere in the corner with a guitar. The good life.
Ilse. She’s the most fun and best singer (sorry Anouk, sorry Trijn) of the Netherlands. And don’t get me started on her looks. That hair, so nice and wavy. To cite Leco “impossible to make trashy”. The other day, she wore leather trousers, very high heels and a sequined top. Ilse can pull it off. Anouk van Griensven, her stylist, deserves a ribbon.
I know for sure that Ilse has got some nice outfits in her closet, but fair is fair, this stylist is beyond this world good.
Odd that she isn’t more famous.
Last but not least, very importantly, she’s got humour. She can be so self-deprecating. Whenever I hear her say “God oh god oh god” with her accent, which I hate on others, I’ve got to piss myself. I would know who to go after if I were a man. Ilse, really, you’re my girl.
