My first Thanksgiving ever. May-Britt and I went to the PC Hooftstraat to celebrate together with Tiffany&Co. Their facade was decorated with Christmas branches and lights. In front of the door, I received a cup (of course it was their beautiful blue) filled with mulled wine. Such a lovely beginning and oh how I’m already looking forward to the holidays.
We didn’t see many acquaintances, but we did see a lot of fun people. From high heels to ballerinas. There was a warm and cosy Christmas ambience. Too bad it wasn’t snowing. A girl played the piano, nice ladies photographed everyone with a polaroid camera and charming guys served canapés. I traded my mulled wine for a glass of bubbly with a slice of peach. I let the cute Tiffany cakes pass, and got another glass. And I spotted Anna Drijver on gorgeous pumps and in a dress with her belly uncovered. And yes, I saw a six-pack. Lovely. Kim Nieuwburg, store manager at Tiffany’s, wore a smashing black dress with a sequined belt. After welcoming us, all the guests received a key with which we were able to win a present. But your key had to fit the display case. That made us very grabby. We ran (yeah, we know, not that elegant, but Anna Drijver ran with us and we felt a lot less inappropriate) to the cases. Lucky strike. Anna won a pen, but a really pretty one. And of course May-Britt’s always lucky. Her key opened the lock. Unfortunately, mine didn’t. Yet I still have my very first Tiffany bracelet around my wrist. Guess how? May, I’m pouring you a glass of wine at five o’clock.
