Through coloured glasses
I won’t beat around the bush, winter is not my thing. I want sun, sea and the beach, and if the latter two aren’t nearby then at least a park and a terrace. With white wine at noon. And a barbecue with friends as the sun sets because, no matter how suburban, I like having those in the summer. We were talking about it here and Jet and May-Britt like the winter. Think: fireplace, red wine, warm blankets, candles, that kind of stuff. Look, that I like, but when you say winter, I mostly think of freezing your hands off whilst biking, weird and unmanageable, frizzy hair, dangerous bike rides through snow resulting in broken collarbones, and destroyed shoes, again thanks to that damned snow. Unfortunately for me, winter is banging on our doors again and I don’t feel like being depressed for two months. So we put our heads together and thought of ways how to survive the winter. Long story short, the solution is: colour. Colour! Colour is what I need. And sun. 1+1=2 so this season will be all about coloured sunglasses. I think it’s ridiculous that you’re supposedly not allowed to wear sunglasses in winter, and besides, glasses make you look va-va-voom in an instant.
- For the first look, we got May-Britt’s purple Patrizia Pepe hat out of the closet. The glasses are from Ice-Watch Eyewear, and is from their latest collection. There’s a male and female version. Kind of useful for my anti-depression project because they come in a variety of colours. The big grey scarf is also from Patrizia Pepe, and also lives in May-Britt’s closet. The grey sweater is from Zara, that, of course, is mine.
- Look numero dos. The coat is incredibly soft and has a leopard print, which always makes me happy. It’s from Patrizia Pepe and owned by my colleague Marte. Hmm, what’s the deal with those Patrizias of other people’s closets?Anyhow, the glasses are Ice-Watch again and this is the second model. No okay, grey is officially not a colour, but still, it looks kind of good, don’t you agree? They’re for sale at a €69,95 at the optometrist and, naturally, the Ice-Watch flagship store on the Heiligeweg 9 in Amsterdam.
- And the final one, with a round frame and checkered coat. That’s mine! And from Zara. You’d almost think we’re afraid to mix things up. Not the case, though. Can you see that the legs haven’t got hinges? Great for people like moi who tend to sit on their glasses. Or stand. So, winter: bring it on.
