Beauty

Tried & tested by yours truly and the American beauty magazine Allure, which even announced it was the best beauty break through & smartest innovation of 2013: Wow Root Cover Up. It’s a water resistant, temporary touch-up for your roots in the form of a powder and two brushes. It promises to stay put until you wash your hair.

Apparently, and much to my bafflement, blonde hair with dark roots is okay or even fashionably sound. But a dark coiffure with grey roots is definitely a Don’t Do It. Grey is associated with getting old, and that — myself included — is something we really don’t want. And to run to the hairdressers every two weeks is really not an option. I’ve been wondering why there wasn’t a smartypants in Beautyland that thought of an easy cover-up for your roots. Of course, I’ve tried just about anything: mascara (which hardened my hair), eyeshadow (which left a weird colour on my scalp and made my hair look dull), and self-experimentation with colours leaves such a mess in the bathroom.

I was so happily surprised at reading Allure’s good news. Unfortunately, it’s not yet available in the Netherlands (as far as I’m aware), but it’s easy to order online on netaporter.com, which now also supplies you of your beauty products. Colours from platinum blonde to black available.
