7 TIPS TO BEAT THE HEAT

It’s raining really hard in Amsterdam at the moment so I’m curious when that sun is going to appear. But. According to the weather forecast, we’re going to have a tropical weekend. It’s always difficult to look nice on days like these, you’d prefer not to have beads of sweat on your forehead or runny mascara and lipstick. No, we want to stroll along the boulevard like true birds of paradise. So here are 7 tips to spend days like those protected against the heat. Oh, and they’re still useful if it’s going to rain.

1. Invest in a primer

In order to make sure your makeup is weather proof, a good basis is vital. That means you should invest in a good sun lotion, but afterwards also a thin layer of makeup primer. It smoothens the skin, fixates the makeup better, and makes sure everything stays put all day long.

2. Covering up blemishes

A basis layer covers up blemishes. That’s great, but what’s even better is using one that contains SPF. This will also protect you against the sun. So best of both worlds.

3. Basis

You don’t want to show up pale-faced at a terrace. So a gel powder’s great to use for an even skin and to create a sunny tint. This one from Chanel’s perfect. It’s partially a gel and partially a powder that’s incredibly soft and enriched with coloured and irising pigments which gives you a velvety shimmer all day long.

4. Line above the eyes

An eyeliner creates an open look which brings out your eyes. Which is great in case you fell asleep at the beach and suddenly woke up still sleepy eyed.

5. Lips

The lips. Some ladies can’t go without a colour on their lips and let’s be honest, it does give you a more distinct effect. You can safely swim with these products on your face or drink a lot of wine, erm water, because it stays put all day.

Perhaps the first thing we can’t live without. Mascara. And preferably waterproof mascara.

7. Finishing Touch

A fragrance’s great. And in case you started to smell a bit because of the hot weather then why not smell like something nice. Wearing eau de parfum’s a bit of a no-go if it’s warm, but this one from Lancaster has been specially designed for this purpose. So do. Makes us all happy.
