STORY TELLERS
Whether we wanted to come to the editing room to check out episode 4, director Josephine asked us. Liesbeth, our intern Mads, Josselin and I went to the television wing of our company. Which we lovingly refer to as ‘the dark side.’ At our side, you hear us purring when Dolce&Gabbana releases another perfume, and our cheeks redden when Chanel’s Le Beige now also comes as a cream. At ‘the dark side’ work only Real Men, who drink beer and eat fish and chips on Fridays. We witness it all admiringly as we dip our carrots in hummus and pretend to really like our ginger teas. Right, the dark side. Editor Arnaud with his savage lion manes works there and director Josephine. She’s the perfect bridge between the east and west wing of our company. She’s gorgeous and classy (so one of us, ha!), but also uber cool because when the very skilful but rather wild hair stylist Taco Stuiver, without mirrors, cut her long longs, all she said was: “Fine, Taco, if you make sure I can still make a ponytail then I really don’t care.”
Right, back to editing room. We watched episode four, refined some voice over texts (the great, slightly ironic voice from Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte), and saw each other’s stories. The argument between Liesbeth and the London taxi driver, Jet and Liesbeth’s adventures in Somerset House, and Liesbeth saw my interviews with Pat McGrath, Joanna Coles (editor in chief Cosmo USA) and Franca Sozzani (editor in chief Vogue Italia), and we looked at each other with slight admiration and pride.
Arnaud miraculously cut a couple of scenes, made them way more interesting, and looked for some great music to put under the footage. We all made sure the episode is something to be really proud of. The dark side and the amayzine headquarters, we’re both story tellers and together form the ideal look. Amayzine TV, in a bit at 18:30 on RTL5.
