ANNA DELLO RUSSO’S HARDBODY
Anna dello Russo looks like she’s around 40, and has the legs many a model would kill for. In reality, the famous Vogue Nippon’s editor-at-large is turning 52 this year. Her looks – and especially her body – are quite something.
With an apartment dedicated to her ever growing collection of designer clothing, it’s of the utmost importance that she’ll always fit sample sizes. But, like always, things don’t happen out of themselves. The extravagant fashionista works out excessively, and hasn’t touched a carb in decades. “I am Italian, so I love food – but I love fashion more”, she laughs. Every day at around 06:00 the alarm clock goes off so that she’s able to unroll her yoga mat at 07:00 for an Ashtanga yoga class after which she takes a dive in the pool and do some serious swimming. In total this ritual costs her about 3 hours a day. She continues even during holidays. Last Christmas break she went to a yoga retreat in India where the first class started at 05:00 in the morning.
She also cares about her nutrition besides her physical exercise. On an average day, ADR begins with a Japanese breakfast of salmon, miso soup, eggs, and coffee. She doesn’t eat meat. She mostly sticks to a vegetarian diet with sometimes fish as the exception. “I love crudités. Every vegetable and fruit kind is my favourite. Like my hats – cherry, pineapple, and watermelon!”
If you ever get invited to a dinner at Anna’s then we’d advise to eat a cheese sandwich (or two) beforehand. The fashion icon loves to throw dinner parties, but the food is secondary. “I decorate the tables with special china and I serve food with bright colours. I find the way food looks like more important than what it tastes like.”
