As long as your hair looks good
Last Friday, Riccardo Tisci sent his male models down the Paris runway for his Givenchy 2014 Fall collection. Tisci, and so Givenchy, recently made headlines with the -sometimes- remarkable outfits he sewed for Kim Kardashian, though Friday he also showed the world he’s able to produce very non-Kimish fashion. Tisci loved basketball as a child, and the show took place – you guessed it – on a basketball court with neon lighted lines.
And the clothing. The last women’s wear collection, he had huge successes with his rottweiler and bambi printed jumpers; his current male collection is much harder to copy (thank god) yet still very distinct. Flaring trousers that fitted nonchalantly, long jackets with painted, colourful prints, and pockets with lots of graphic sections.
The models’ hair was tightly pulled back and, together with the face, covered with a net. And who was working very hard backstage, and pulling those hairs back and covering them in a net? Our very ‘own’ Rachel Geerman from salon The Building AMS. Rachel gave May-Britt a Jackie hairdo during our Jackie week, and Rachel also gave our editor Josselin a charming Christmas coupe. And now she’s doing hair at Givenchy – you must understand, we’re incredibly proud.
So cheers to Riccardo Tisci, though especially to Rachel. Blue Monday, blue schmonday!
