Beat the rain

Without sagging hair and panda eyes

Of course the sun is showing it’s face today, but this whole entire week we’ve been getting to work looking like we’d all just done the ice bucket challenge. Rain is not good for the mood and totally not good for the outfit. So I am going to tell you how to keep looking good and beat the rain.

Frizz-it

Take precautions to stop your hair from getting frizzy. Fine, thick, straight or curly, rain causes frizz and fluff. So take steps to prevent it like using a light mousse or gel. If you prefer having a good blow-dry then use a light product with silicone during styling, it gives more weight to the hair so it doesn’t frizz so easily.

A damp corner

You more than likely try hiding out under an umbrella while cycling. Is it actually a good solution? Questionable, because it becomes one crazy damp party under there. Rather use an anti-humidity spray. Especially handy for hair that frizzes easily.

Volume

Even if you’ve careful styled your hair in the morning, one crazy downpour is all it takes to eradicate your work. Unless you’re cycling with an umbrella, used an anti-frizz spray and pre-treated your hair with a texture spray and dusting powder. Yeah go on say it, looks like cocaine for your hair. That stuff creates volume that can’t easily be blown out. Then when you get to the office, rub your hands through your hair, shake it around and it’ll look like you’ve never even seen a drop of rain. This is one powder that is permitted at the office.

Make-up

LiGHT Make-up

Obviously you need to go for a waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Or you need to do a little touch up when you reach your destination. There is no other way. You could also go for light make-up products. For example, if you’re cycling through a warm tropical rain shower, the chances are great that a heavier foundation will melt. Not terribly charming to arrive with streaks down your face. Rather use a light product like a powder with a little highlighter and blush.

Blend-it!

Light make-up works the best, but apply it well and with love. Blend it thoroughly. If you’re wearing a light foundation, blend it with a little sponge. A very thin layer will just end up getting rained off, while a well applied layer will offer resistance and not streak so easily.

High gloss

Another common problem in the rain is that unwanted shine on your face. Nobody wants that. Use a primer, it creates a matte layer, which keeps your make-up in place and looking better. A wonder product against the rain. Blotting paper is also important to keep it all in place and helps prevent you ending up with a ‘high gloss’ face.
