Yesterday evening’s People’s Choice Awards officially kicked off the Award Season in Hollywood. This means that besides polished up trophies and nervous celebs, there will also be crazy stylists and overbooked hairdressers. We fashion lovers are especially curious about the looks that we’re going to see on the red carpet. We asked A-list hairstylists John Nollet and Serge Normant for the seven trends in the category of Done Hair.

  1. Wear hair accessories that look like jewellery. Think of a gorgeous brooch in your hair or a diamond tiara. Jewellery or hairbands with a twist can turn any simple look into something special. I think Anne Hathaway will probably wear something like this.
  2. Glamorous hair that looks a bit untidy is totally hot right now. Something right up Renée Zelweger or Gwyneth Paltrow’s alley.
  3. The ponytail is allowed on the red carpet. In order to prevent a too nonchalant coupe, make sure it’s extremely tight and slightly back comb the top into a small quiff for a bit of a bite. Kate Winslet has this in the pocket, seriously.
  4. We’ll probably see lots of super straight, blow-dried hair. On Julianne Moore or Nicole Kidman, for example.
  5. The braid is here to stay. But all the stylists will try to surprise you with different interpretations of the Heidi. Julia Roberts already shined with a gorgeous braid, you never know, she might decide on wearing one again.
  6. Think effortless chic, fresh, clean hair. Typically a look for Michelle Williams.
  7. The deconstructed updo (looks messy, but is very worked) is here to stay. Cameron, something for you?
