THANKS COCO
Even though you and I aren’t in Cannes at the moment, and regardless of the fact that we’re typing away staunchly, you can still be there if you give yourself a break of four minutes. I’m showing you the trailer of Clouds of Sils Maria, one of the films that will be shown at the film festival.
Juliette Binoche is an actress of age and has been asked to play in a remake of a film that led to her breakthrough about twenty years ago. Though she isn’t asked to play the young star, no, she’s now asked to play the role of the older lady. Which is, to put things mildly, rather confronting. Especially when the girl that’s playing you is a gorgeous version of your younger self. It all takes place in the Alps. Lovely.
It gets even more beautiful thanks to Chanel. They clothed the girls, did the makeup, and made sure the director could film on 35 mm film, which is a lot more beautiful but also more expensive than a digital camera. Everything because Coco Chanel thought it important to support art and artists, and wanted to give them a helping hand.
Just watch it, it’s gorgeous.
