PEACH AND PASSION SOUR

We always start with a healthy shake on Monday, so we can surely celebrate the weekend with a cocktail on Friday, right? I’ve hit Amsterdam to taste the best ones. And I’m sharing them with you. With recipe. Of course we like to hang at the bar, but now we can also try to make them at home.

I’d never been to the Skybar DoubleTree Hilton before, but this address will be one of my favourites. Even if you didn’t plan on having cocktails, but you’re accidentally biking near central station, then drop by. The view is amazing, even on a dreary day like this. It kind of takes my breath away. You see the centre of Amsterdam and the IJ. So beautiful.

The barman is the best in town, he says. He makes his own syrups that he often uses in his custom made cocktails, which he prefers over simple and boring ones like mojitos and cosmopolitans. He prefers to shake a peach & passion sour for us. And he’s right, it’s incredibly tasty.

What do you need, and how to prepare it:

  • A whiskey glass
  • 20ml fresh lime juice
  • 20ml sugar water
  • 40ml Jack Daniels whiskey
  • 30ml Licor 43
  • 10ml Ricard

First, cool the glass with a lot of ice. Add all the ingredients to a shaker and then, yes that’s right, shake. Use a straw to determine whether the taste is to your liking. Remove the ice cubes from the glass, and fill the glass with the mixture. Garnish with a slice of lemon, an edible flower or bit of mint. Or all of the above, of course.
