This is an emotional chapter of Destination Killerbody because it’s the penultimate one. Yes, really, next week Wednesday we have our last boxing lesson and then we’re stopping. But, okay, I’m saving the real emotions for next week when it’s officially the last one, so for now I’ll keep a dry eye and reflect back on last week.
– We started on Tuesday with a training full of squats, lunges and other stuff that left me with extreme muscle ache that lasted till Friday afternoon, and glutes that burned 24/7.
– Wednesday was not really my day. We had boxing class and I don’t know why, but I just wasn’t into it. Do you know that feeling? You feel fine but then every punch turns to nothing. Luckily Jet was on top form, so I decided to spend the day behind the camera instead and made a whole series of videos that Jet can use to send to people and threaten them. (Joking of course. Kind of)
– On Thursday I have my very last exam EVER so you’ll be seeing less of me on the site this coming week. I’ve been holed up in the UB (University Library) since last Thursday and am staying there for the rest of the week with my books. I’m even typing from the UB now, hello! If you’re in the Koningsplein neighbourhood in Amsterdam, give me a shout, I could certainly use the distraction. Studying is notorious for it’s long time companion, bad eating. Bags of sweets, cake rolls and whatnot, I usually stuff myself totally full out of sheer self pity whenever an exam comes close. Buttttt this time not, because about 12 hours after my I lay my exam pen down, I am getting in my car and going to Italy where I am planning on flaunting fit and slim, in bikini, over the beach.
– Last Thursday, I visited my big friend Taco Stuiver from 1027 for the presentation of the John Masters production, but more about that later. Glass after glass of wine passed us by and not too much later I had dinner with Jet on the George W.P.A terrace. Get it? There we were, one bottle of wine and two bottles of water (!), steak tartare (very healthy) and hours of chatting about life, love and everything in between.
– By the way, did I tell you that we received a large box at the editors office this week with three pairs of Saucony sneakers in it? In bright red with flashy stripes, perfect for running. Jet and Joss have been running with pleasure on them, and I’ve been training in mine because running (cardio specifically) is just not my thing.
– Jet’s granny turned 80 this week and that means a party naturally. There was cake, but also delicious Italian food. Canapés, fish from the grill, loads of vegetables, Scropino (“duuuh”) and cake. Oh, I already said that. When I App’d her this morning to ask what she was doing, she was already at her local gym. Say What?! That is dedication to the destination.
– At the moment of me writing this, I am sitting in the damn UB. The Albert Heijn supermarket opposite is advertising with all its might about how delicious their cookies are, but I’m staying big and strong.
– On Tuesday and Wednesday we have our last training session, and will continue going to the gym afterwards but in another form. We’ll tell you about that another time though. For now, enjoy your Sunday, the sun, the football and have a cookie for and on behalf of me.
– Till next week!
