LFW DIARY
We got back from New York about 12 hours ago, quickly repacked our bags and hopped on a plane to London. We arrived, a tad wrinkled thanks to jet-lag and limited legroom, to a stormy, rainy London, but in high spirits and determined to see as much of LFW as possible in our precious two days.
- On Friday afternoon we set up Amayzine HQ at our favourite place to stay: The Soho Hotel. After a few hours of substantial typing, we poured ourselves a well deserved glass of wine. Cheers to London.
- That night we had dinner at Pont St. Restaurant at the Belgraves Hotel, one of Pippa Middleton’s favourite spots. After a couple of cocktails, a bottle of wine and some incredibly delicious food, we returned to our hotel at a very respectable hour, still feeling the effects of NY jet-lag.
- Saturday morning started in the showroom of Malone Souliers, a new shoe brand. Their shoes are handmade from the finest soft leather and have amazing high heels — what a way to start the day.
- Then it was time for a bit of speed shopping. Kenzo was a huge success (last sale rack!), and so was & Other Stories, where we bagged this red-orange dress…
- The brand new DvF pumps still needed to be broken in, and to be honest they hurt like hell, so bus stops offered a welcome break.
- On Saturday evening we went to the Punch Bar at The Edition Hotel with Erica Pelosini and her fiancé Louis Leeman. We had met Erica and Louis previously in New York, and didn’t need to be asked twice when they invited us for drinks & dinner. From the Punch Bar we went on to Berners Tavern for dinner (the same place the BAFTA after-party would be held, including Brad and Angie, the next day), and we took this (slightly blurry) group photo afterwards.
- After dinner, we descended the stairs to the hotel’s club in the basement for the House of Holland party. They had an open bar, fabulous music and the most incredibly fun guests. We had swapped the DvFs for more comfortable loafers, because hours of dancing were definitely on the cards. Following this party, we ended up at The Box in Soho, a club as infamous as it is famous, with Cara, Kate and Rihanna as regulars on their guest list.
- The next day we awoke feeling a little worse for wear, but after breakfast and some work on our MacBooks, we left for The Savoy Hotel to see the Temperley London show. The hotel, the room, the people, the clothes…where to begin with the superlatives, seriously everything was so, so, so gorgeous.
- My brand new Kenzo cloud print dress had me on cloud nine and as I walked through The Savoy Hotel, I remember thinking that it was the absolute perfect place for trying out a new outfit.
- After the show and armed with a camera, we interviewed a few models. One girl we were talking to got a telephone call halfway through and then disappeared; she must have been in a hurry to get to the next show.
- We left The Savoy and walked over to Somerset House, the epicentre for London Fashion Week. We spotted all sorts of extraordinary figures along the way including several ‘birds of paradise’, like a woman with Swarovski eyebrows. You just need a little imagination.
- We ordered two fresh juices at Joe & The Juice. Of course Liesbeth chose the Hangover Heaven.
- It was drizzling and typically horrible British weather when we arrived on Friday, but today the sun was shining and the streets shimmering like gold.
- Our last night and we stayed in at our London HQ for dinner and worked a bit more. Then early to bed. Jet-lag + partying at The Box + long days of walking around = two exhausted but thoroughly satisfied editors, and a couple of MacBooks exploding with stories.
