Men and perfumes

We all sometimes wish we could dump ourselves in a lovely scent bath to ward off a sticky and sweaty day. Men probably too (let us hope). Research has shown that we are first drawn to a man’s looks and then immediately to his smell. A bad smell scores low points pretty quickly, even though there are those types whereby it doesn’t matter because their looks are simply stronger (not often, but still). Then there are men who are utterly gorgeous, and they smell great, because they are the The Face of a Famous Perfume. To name one – Michiel Huisman, the new face of Chanel No5. Brings us to the following: a list of five extremely handsome men with a perfume history. Good to smell, good to look at, good all the way.

1. Matthew McConaughey for Dolce & Gabbana

I was in love from the moment the film ‘The Wedding Planner’ came out. Then he charmed me further in ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’. My love waned when I saw him as a skinny dude in ‘The Wolf of Wall street’.  Eew, he lost me. Still, when I watch this video, I feel I can easily step down from my superficial pedestal,  jump into his classic car and dirty the streets of New York. Sadly Scarlett has already stolen my place, but if a spot comes free on the back seat, or even in the boot, I’ll take it gladly.

2. Jude Law for Dior Homme Sport

Do you need proof that Jude Law is the perfect face for Dior Homme Sport? Click here, here and here. The first video, produced by Guy Ritchie, is five minutes and ten seconds of pure staring and listening. That voice. That Voice! In the second video, also my favourite, it’s wonderful to see him smile, act a little crazy (silly thing) and finally do a short striptease. Like I said, good all the way.

3. Michiel Huisman for CHANEL NO5

Brad Pitt was first and now Michiel Huisman is taking it over. Hollands glory. His international career has certainly proven to be fruitful. There was Game of Thrones. And now he gets to shine for CHANEL alongside Brazilian beauty Gisele Bündchen. I’m looking forward to the campaign in September.

4. Robert Pattinson for Dior Homme

We’ve always found Robert Pattinson a little on the boring side, and then all of a sudden this heavenly photo appears. His looks were never in question, but definitely a lack of sex appeal in Twilight. This DIOR campaign has changed everything. Quite a surprising choice for DIOR in my opinion, but when I saw this video, I understood. Robert has charisma, sex and humour. Or as we like to call it, the holy trinity. Hallelujah.

5. Gerard Butler for Boss Bottled

Today it was announced that Gerard Butler will be the new face for BOSS BOTTLED. He feels like it is a perfect match, the classic appeal with a modern twist. I agree, and with the addition of a bit of charm and humour, it will become an amazing TV campaign.
