AND THEN THERE WAS DOUTZEN

It doesn’t often happen that tout fashion loving Amsterdam whips themselves up and brave a dreary Wednesday evening to visit a huge bank, though it still happened yesterday evening. Which was when the Björn Borg show took place at the KAS BANK, and leave it to Spice PR to make sure really everyone was there. We saw Karin Swerink (editor-in-chief of VOGUE), Esther Coppoolse (fashion director ELLE), fashion designer Bas Kosters, Beertje van Beers, Winonah de Jong, my dear friend Sophia Tienstra, and of course, of course, we also saw Doutzen Kroes. I’d never seen her in real life, but from now on my life will be divided into two parts: before and after I’d seen her.
I’d like to act all blasé and say it wasn’t such a big deal, but she’s mesmerisingly beautiful. After her word of welcome, the fall/winter collection show began. The underwear, and all the great running clothes looked very desirable, just as the male models, but we’re of course extremely professional, but honestly; all those parading six packs were kind of distracting. Hester Wernert-Rijn did the hair, the woman who, each year, wins the prize for Best Hairdresser of the country. Sandra Govers did the makeup who isn’t quite a beginner herself with 8 years of experience at New York Fashion Week and numerous shoots for amongst others ELLE.
After the show there was music, the bar opened, and the lights stayed off for a long time. Pretty boys and girls elbowed each other to go on the photo wall, people exchanged business cards, there were lots of winks, and much dancing. I wore beautiful L.K. Bennett pumps that attracted a lot of attention and were even photographed by a couple of fashion bloggers and a party photographer. You must understand, my heart fills with pride and joy when my children are liked. When my girlfriend and I went home, the goodiebags were unfortunately already gone, but, well, who cares with Doutzen still fresh on your retina? Thanks Björn Borg, thanks a lot.
