FREEZE YOUR FAT? VAMPIRE FACELIFT OR A NEW MUFFIN?
Trends come in all shapes and sizes, especially when it comes to beauty. Every year you can see a clear movement happen regarding plastic surgery and other cosmetic treatments. Here we go, the biggest trends for the new year:
Chin implants
Since 2010 the number of requests for chin implants have been doubled, and it seems that it’ll remain a highly sought after procedure in 2014. A stronger chin adds definition to your face and makes it look more balanced. Recently, it was announced that iconic movie star Marilyn Monroe also underwent this procedure at the time.
Designer vaginas
The so-called intimate treatments are also gaining in popularity. Procedures where the inner labia are reduced or a ‘tightening’ of the vagina are most popular in its genre. The latter is especially popular amongst women who’ve had a baby.
Breasts
Breast modifications – whether they’ve got to be bigger, smaller or more firm — were, are, and will probably always stay amongst the most popular cosmetic procedures. The number of women that wants to undergo an improvement in the breast area increases each year.
Though, of course, not everyone wants to undergo surgery to improve their looks, and so the array in non surgical procedures increases vastly, as do the number of requests for it. We asked cosmetic doctor Annebeth Kroeskop about the treatments that she expects to gain popularity this year.
Cryolipo
Cryolipo is a treatment during which body fat is frozen, which causes it to die and be drained from the body. The procedure is applied locally, and so is ideal for your love handles, the layer of fat on your belly or those flabby upper arms that are impossible to get rid off even when hitting the gym and being on a diet. You’ve got to do the treatment about 3 times per zone, which cause the vet cells to be permanently damaged. One treatment costs 200,- euro.
Vampire facelift
PRP treatments, also known as the vampire facelift, are becoming incredibly popular. We probably still all remember Kim Kardashian who underwent a very bloody treatment in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which was a PRP treatment. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. With this treatment they draw some blood and this blood is centrifuged, removing the red and white blood-corpuscles only leaving behind plasma. This plasma is then injected into the skin again to trigger the natural recovery mechanism and stimulates the production of collagen. PRP treatments come in many variations and are very versatile. We recommend a programme of three treatments each interspersed with a month’s time, which is to be repeated annually. A treatment costs about 540,- euro.
Botox against migraine
Becoming prettier is only a side effect of this final procedure because it’s actually meant to cure your migraine. People in the US discovered by accident that people with migraines that were injected with Botox were slowly relieved of their complaints. How it exactly works remains unclear, but researchers found out that injecting migraine patients with Botox leads to a 75 % reduction of seizures. As of recently, Botox became an officially FDA approved cure against horrible headaches. Great advantage is that the deep furrow in the brow is fixed as well.
