Every now and again a pearl with such an international approach crosses your path that you can’t believe the designer is ‘just’ Dutch, and that the clip they filmed was shot in the Utrechtsedwarsstraat. Esther Dorhout Mees is her name, and fashion art is her game.
The Dutch designer Esther Louise Dorhout Mees started her label in 2010. She worked as a designer for established labels such as Bruuns Bazaar, and Tommy Hilfiger after her studies at ArtEz Academy for visual arts in Arnhem until she felt that she had to start her own label.
Dorhout Mees is elegant and stylish, and has a whiff of nonchalance. It’s feminine and conceptual, but wearability remains a key element. Every collection from Dorhout Mees is based on three different components: High Fashion, prêt a porter, and basics with a twist.
She’s showing her collection in the Gashouder on Sunday, but tonight (and that’s where you come in), from 10:30 mp to 01.30 am, she’s presenting her Belle Epoque collection at the Concertgebouw. It’s free and accessible tonight all. It’s all accompanied by classical music and poetry. So a cultural total package. And it’s the perfect location to drop by.
Sunday’s show is for the fashion peeps, but amayzine.com is giving away two tickets. Like and share us on Facebook, and who knows, you might sit on one of those great seats.
To get into the mood with a clip of her work.
