JET’S CONVINCED
Yesterday, I got on my scooter and made my way to Loods 6 on the KNSM island for the launch of H&M’s Conscious New World Collection. The evening in short. There were five artworks on display that were made by five artists and five famous Dutch ladies — amongst who director Sanne Vogel, actress Victoria Koblenko and singer Eveline Vroonland — which were all inspired by five sustainable themes. The highlight of the evening was the pre-shopping of the latest sustainable Conscious collection of H&M.
I’ve got to be honest that I’m not that focused on sustainable clothing. I do mind the environment when I’m buying other things like fluorescent lamps, organic cleaning articles, and the washer on 30 degrees instead of 40. The idea of organic clothing sounded a bit granola. I already envisioned shitpants (you know, sweatpants with a very low crotch) in grey colours. Well, have I been proved wrong. Toute hip fashion folk went to this event and the entire H&M Conscious collection can be transported to my closet. They’re a bit more expensive than their regular collection, but it’s really something special. I couldn’t resist trying on a few things. I chose for a leather plissé skirt in soft pink and a white blazer with worked see-through sleeves. Wow. Liesbeth tried a navy blue ball gown, with which she didn’t want to part ever.
After the presentation and the pre-shopping, Valentijn de Hingh played a few tunes and delicious organic bites were served like salmon with avocado on a little bed of quinoa, we drank an elderflower, passionfruit and vodka cocktail. The collection’s available online starting from 10 April. I’m going to set my alarm clock and I’ll definitely make sure I’m the first one there.
