Hangover fodder
So, good night last night? Spent somewhere on a dance floor? Or at a table sipping on way too much wine? Perhaps you were at home on time, but accompanied by a cute boy. All reasons to be feeling a little queasy.
We have that problem too sometimes. The hangover. And we all have our own way of getting rid of one. Popping outside for a bit of fresh air is, as everyone knows, the best cure yet I prefer hanging out in bed all day or moving to the couch with a movie. I order Dim Sum or eat noodle soup, and I’m usually over my hangover in an hour. I still don’t move from the couch though.
Liesbeth leaves a can of Coca Cola light in the freezer, which she usually forgets about, but you understand the need for an ice cold cola. Then she smears ciabatta with smoked salmon and an egg on top. She normally likes the yolk broken, but with a hangover she likes to keep it whole. So that it drips down with the first bite. And if in a good mood, tops it off with avocado.
May-Britt drinks loads of water all day and ginger tea. She always plans to start the night before, but then forgets. Next bring on the Chinese food. With lots of sambal. Actually anything spicy and exotic is on the list.
Josselin goes for white bread sandwiches with chocolate sprinkles and a homemade fruit shake. Makes her feel like she’s compensating for it. Oh and then she makes an omelette.
Below is a list of food to help you over your hangover. Forget about dieting. On a day like this anything goes. And going outside, seriously, it helps.
– Toast with honey
– Banana
– Roti
Milk, milkshakes, ice-cream. Don’t ask me why, but they all seem to help alleviate the symptoms of an acute hangover. There is someone here at the office that drinks an entire package of milk and then eats five or six (what does it matter) Vietnamese spring rolls. Hangover gone.
