Happy hair by Sheri Lussier
Sheri Lussier makes sure that the models at the Michael Kors shows always look happy and healthy when walking. I mean, the walking they do themselves and Michael decides on a cute look, Sheri ‘does’ the hair. Sheri hardly ever appears upfront herself, but rather makes sure the models are all looking fab. She shared her tips and best kept secrets on Grazia daily recently. Which are no longer secret, because we’re sharing them with you.
What is most important for an undone look?
“Bed-head is officially chic. The secret is dust powder for texture. Don’t be stingy with it. Use a lot on the scalp as a base, then shake through the hair. Use on the ends of the hair for extra texture. You can also use a dry shampoo, that always works.”
How often should we wash our hair actually?
“One thing is clear and that is do not wash your hair every day. If you wash your hair well with hot water, you can happily go four or five days before reaching for the shampoo again. You only need a little bit of shampoo to wash your hair. If you use enough water, it’ll still do its work. If you have long hair, then wash the roots and let the shampoo run through the hair by itself. Don’t go wild, such a waste.”
What hairstyle is ab-so-lute-ly trending?
“At Oscar de la Renta, it’s all very minimalist, streamlined and clean. A classic look. It has to be very sharp, so use a good serum and a fabulous hairspray to complete the look.”
What’s your secret?
“Looking for a DIY mask? Wash you hair, use a little conditioner and a handful of honey. Leave it in your hair for 30 minutes to an hour and then wash it out. Your hair feels like silk.”
Everyone is raving about coconut oil. To do or not to do?
“Coconut oil is very good for your hair. Just like olive oil. But you need to remember that oil and water don’t mix, so first shampoo and then rub a little oil through. The hair should not become greasy from it.”
Which three hair products should we also have around?
“You should always have a hair paste at hand to give texture. A wax, a gel or something else that creates structure. Warm it between the palms of your hands first and then apply it, this gives the best result. Elnett hairspray, always good to keep around. It keeps everything under control and gives loads of volume. And a good dry shampoo. Always a dry shampoo.
