harrods’ shoe heaven
We’ve been making enough noise about our team going to New York Fashion Week. But not so much about the fact that Jet and I are hopping on a plane to London afterwards. That is good news all on it’s own but even better now that Harrods has opened a spanking new shoe department that will make all other shoe departments pale in comparison.
Shoe heaven is almost 4000 square metres in size. Four thousand square metres, can you imagine! With heavenly thick carpets for your feet to sink into, and anything that isn’t massive mahogany will probably be marble, and of course the obligatory chandeliers, the show cases will be lined with leather, the couches covered in velvet and the shoes, the shoes. You will be able to try everything from Chanel to Louis to Christian Louboutin and back to Nicholas Kirkwood and Charlotte Olympia.
British Vogue was very impressed and publicised a wonderful list with facts & figures about Shoe Heaven. For example, did you know that they used 75 tons of marble in the store? That the building process took two years? That 150 people work there to fetch any colour and style you may wish to try on? That the most expensive pair in the shop costs €5490,- and that it’s a special edition by Valentino? And finally, that there are 100.000 different examples to choose from. I can already tell you that when Jet and I are in London, I’ll be dropping her off in a Nike store and spending the afternoon in Shoe Heaven. Must. Will. Buy. Something.
