KARL’S ROOM

Kaiser Karl’s going to design the two most luxurious suites for hôtel de Crillon in Paris. The Crillon, which overlooks the majestic Place de la Concorde, is one of the most beautiful and oldest (it already existed in 1758!) hotels in Paris. 1758! Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Dalai Lama, and Jackie O all stayed the night (or two) and the hotel’s regulars can’t wait for it to reopen after the renovations.
You won’t easily find a hotel that’s more opulent than the Crillon with its Corinthian pillars and typically French ceiling ornaments. It survived the French Revolution, it was the place where Marie-Antoinette took piano classes, and it was the building across from which her husband, king Louis XVI, got sent to the guillotine. According to rumours, Marie-Antoinette put on her favourite heels before walking to her own execution. But okay, we’re getting distracted.
This isn’t the first time Karl designed a hotel’s interior. He already designed for Hôtel Métropole (Monte-Carlo), Sofitel (Singapore), and the Alma Schlosshotel (Berlin). The hotel, especially Karl’s suites, reopen in 2015. So you’ve got some time to save up.
