LAST SEASON IS HIP

A model’s life is short lived. Well, her career. Some models don’t work after 50. Or 60. Or… American actress slash former model slash photographer Jessica Lange (64) became the face for the new Marc Jacobs beauty campaign, and so it’s time for a top-6 models above the… Just because we like lists so much:

  1.  Kristen McMenamy (47). Androgynous something of the last few years? Of course not, Kristen was one of the first androgynous models in the 80s. Did you know Naomi Campbell was her bridesmaid and Karl gave her away? Kristen is fashion all the way.
  2. Iman (58). After her studies political science in Egypt, she thought it was time for a new challenge. She moved to America in 1975, became a model (her very first assignment was for Vogue US a year later), and the rest was history. These days she runs a beauty empire and she stills does modelling.
  3. Lauren Hutton (70) already posed 26 times on the cover for Vogue US, and she posed nude for Big magazine when she turned 61 because she thought women shouldn’t be embarrassed about their body. She’s also the eternal bachelor: she’s 70 but has never married.
  4. Carmen Dell’Orefice (82) graced the cover of Vogue US when she was 15, which earned her a $7,50 an hour. She was so thin that she got hormone injections, became curvy, and posed in lingerie for catalogs for $300 an hour.
  5. Daphne Selfe (85) already worked as a model her entire life. She signed a contract at Models 1 at age seventy, and last year she did the Dolce & Gabbana campaign.
  6. China Machado (86). Her first stint as a model was for Givenchy and Balenciaga. She earned a $1000 a week, and was soon big friends with Richard Avedon and Diana Vreeland. She did the Cole Haan campaign last year and is officially the oldest model in the world.
