She’s funny, she’s great, and also incredibly beautiful. Carice van Houten, an actress who also took the stage internationally, shared some of her beauty secrets with us. We couldn’t have been happier because we’d all like to know how to get a gorgeous skin like hers. Morning ritual


“In the mornings, I wake up beside the greatest man of the Netherlands. My first ritual is a hand through his curls, a kiss and a whiff of his delightful sleeping face before heading towards the shower. I wash my face with 302 skincare’s Sensitive cleanser after brushing my teeth. Afterwards, I spray some of the brand’s Calming Mist, and add a drop of the Moisturizing Drops. I conclude with Julisus’s Sun Emulsion with a factor 30. On weekends, I prefer to leave my skin alone. All of this under the inspirational supervision of Dany Diop, my favourite skin specialist (who’s also epidemiologist, uh huh).”

“I’ve been using a can of Benefit for years, which is a type of body balm that you apply on your body with a soft pillow. It covers dull skin and makes you shine again. Looks great on photos.”

Eyebrows or lashes

“I do little with my eyebrows, although I pull out a grey hair every now and again, or I might cut my Ruud Lubbers hair short. I clot my eyelashes with lots of mascara. My favourite is Estée Lauder’s Sumptuous.”

“You can use a black marker to draw some eyeliner in case of utter emergency.”

Favourite perfume

“I’m kind of sensitive to smells. I’ve got about 25 different perfumes, from heavy men’s fragrances to really powdery ones. I like Jo Malone, but also Commes des Garcons, and I’ve also got a couple of very exclusive fragrances that I prefer to keep to myself. I usually mix them.”
