IN LOVE WITH HeRIETH

Backstage at Tibi, I saw Herieth Paul. One of the many black models that coloured the New York runways with their beauty. Her back alone was enough to make me feel beauty struck. And such fantastic clothing she wore. A vintage fur from Givenchy that she bought at (coincidentally also my favourite) the prettiest second-hand shop near the Faubourg St Honoré in Paris. She had the same mattelassé from Chanel so that created a bond.

Herieth comes from Tanzania and has already been called the next Naomi Campbell. She used to have long hair, but her breakthrough happened when she cut it short. In New York she walked blisters on her feet because DKNY, Helmut Lang, Tanya Taylor, Suno, Tibi, Derek Lam, Thakoon, House of Herra, and Zac Posen all booked Harieth.

Her greatest source of inspiration? Her mother. According to her proud daughter she’s 50 but looks like 20. To top things off, Herieth took a look at my outfit and said: “we’ve got similar styles. Only you’re much classier”. That was it. I fell in love.
