You’ve probably seen Charlene pop by on your screen a few times already. She worked with us for a while during summer and as of this week she’ll be working with us full-time focussing mainly on Amayzine International. We asked to take a look in her bag so we could get to know her a little better.
How many bags do you have?
“At least 20. But I usually only use 4 of them at a time.”
How did you come on to this little beauty?
“Ordered from the Cambridge Satchel Company. When I decided to go for the old fashion school bag, it had to be an original.”
What does a bag do for you?
“A bag carries my things. No, that’s a little lame. I love bags. I adore getting totally lost in the bag department at Barneys or Harvey Nichols, but bags are not sacred to me in daily life. They should be beautiful and real (leather), but those are qualities I desire in all that I buy.”
and for other women?
“I think that a gorgeous bag can make a woman very happy, simply because you get to use it everyday and because it’s part of your daily outfit.”
Tell me honestly, are you careful with them and do you store them all on a shelf in dust-bags or do you just chuck them in a corner?
“I’m unfortunately not that careful. If I look at my bag right now, it’s lying down on the ground.”
What about the contents? Are you chaotic or a neat-freak?
“Totally chaotic. Until the moment it gets seriously messy, then I reach for a new bag and the drama starts all over again.”
What do you always have with you in your bag?
“Telephone, purse, agenda and writing book, lip stuff and a whole lot of other paraphernalia.”
Have you noticed more doors opening for you with a designer bag?
“A designer bag is just like a beautiful watch or an expensive car, they are status symbols and sometimes denote good taste. Both are things that can gets doors opened.”
Imagine you could only have one bag. Which one would it be?
“The Hermès Kelly Bag.”
Do you prefer trendy or classic? And should a bag be practical?
“‘Trendy is the last stage before tacky’, to quote Karl Lagerfeld and something I totally agree with. It’s great if a bag is practical, yet I have quite a few beautiful but rather unhandy examples in my cupboard.”
And finally, is there one on your wish list? Which one?
“Chanel, Mulberry, Saint Laurent and Valentino all have bags that I would want. But under the premise ‘possession of matter is the end of entertainment’, I’ll probably be enjoying them for a long time.”
