What we saw: BEAUTY-WISE

Josselin is without a doubt our beauty-queen, and I would never normally head into her territory, but Joss if you will allow me, I would like to say something about beauty-business. This is the story. The hair & make-up trending at NYFW can only be summed up as barely any hair & make-up. As in, most of the shows had their models walking au natural. No heavy smokey eye, no stand-out colours, no dramatic blush, nothing at all.

The look was basic, natural, healthy and glowing. A little concealer here and there to tame blemishes and a teeny bit of foundation, and that’s it. No mascara, no drawn on eyebrows and absolutely no eyeshadow. Only a bit of gloss on the eyelids and as seen at Hervé Léger, a thick line of accent eyeliner.

Then the hair, loose, elegant, natural, sometimes a little frizzy and mostly cheerful and cheerfully bouncing with every step the models took. There were exceptions of course, the models at Marc by Marc Jacobs wore little buns, at Diesel the hair was pulled back tightly in a tail and at DvF they had more make-up, but intentionally natural.

So now you know what’s coming. Invest in some good creams and make sure your skin looks good enough to face the world without make-up.
