Ondria Hardin and Miu Miu

I had a lovely tete-a-tete with Ondria Hardin backstage at the Chanel show. One of the 86 (seriously) top models that walked in this show. Ondria thought that I worked for Chanel, not totally unexpected since I was a. dressed in black and b. wearing bag, necklace, earrings and shoes from ‘house of’. Anyway…

Many models have learned the art of cocooning to protect them from all the hectic craziness around, so it bounces off them. If you can’t do that, you are hopelessly lost. Five strange people all pulling at you simultaneously. A normal person would maybe try to have a conversation with all of them and end up drowning in words because it is simply not possible to keep up. Especially not 18 hours per day, four weeks long. Ondria kept talking. About New York, about how much she enjoyed fashion week and about going home soon and starting work.

I checked her Instagram account later that day. What did I find? A photo of her and her sister on the beach, it immediately became apparent who had finished their plates of dinner and who hadn’t when they were little. Furthermore a bombardment of posts with Ondria and her BFF Miu Miu. No, not a Park Avenue Princess but her dog. No posts of look-at-me-being-a-model-opening-and-closing-shows-vip-parties. Nothing like that. Only her and Miu Miu. The only thing she posted during fashion week were texts like ‘miss my sleeping buddy’ and ‘so close, yet so far’.

Yesterday evening as I checked my Instagram I saw a post of a reunited Ondria in a tight embrace with Miu Miu with text ‘best friend’. I fell asleep peacefully and contented.
