The ultimate PARISIENNE IN 7 assignments
By Ines de la Fressange
Ultimate Parisienne Ines de la Fressange (former CHANEL model and muse from Karl Lagerfeld, and ‘aristocrat’ and author of La Parisienne which sold over a million copies), signed a deal with easy wear giant Uniqlo. Because we still, still, STILL want to know how one should go about this business of being incredibly Parisian, we asked her for 7 tips.
- Firstly, it’s never elegant to be too wrapped up in yourself. Remember that.
- Combine sneakers with very sexy design trousers or mix day and evening wear. It’s a misunderstanding that a style icon has to be high heeled, and garbed in hats and gloves.
- Dress yourself to pleasure yourself. A French woman would never do something just because it’s in fashion.
- When someone compliments you about a clothing item, you’ve got to say you’ve already owned it for years.
- Have the arrogance (like we French do) to look chic without designer labels.
- Mix things. Even if you don’t have the money to buy all the designers in the world, it’s way more creative to collect your look.
- Most important tip: laugh, be nonchalant, and always forget your age!
