The ultimate PARISIENNE IN 7 assignments

By Ines de la Fressange

Ultimate Parisienne Ines de la Fressange (former CHANEL model and muse from Karl Lagerfeld, and ‘aristocrat’ and author of La Parisienne which sold over a million copies), signed a deal with easy wear giant Uniqlo. Because we still, still, STILL want to know how one should go about this business of being incredibly Parisian, we asked her for 7 tips.

  1. Firstly, it’s never elegant to be too wrapped up in yourself. Remember that.
  2. Combine sneakers with very sexy design trousers or mix day and evening wear. It’s a misunderstanding that a style icon has to be high heeled, and garbed in hats and gloves.
  3. Dress yourself to pleasure yourself. A French woman would never do something just because it’s in fashion.
  4. When someone compliments you about a clothing item, you’ve got to say you’ve already owned it for years.
  5. Have the arrogance (like we French do) to look chic without designer labels.
  6. Mix things. Even if you don’t have the money to buy all the designers in the world, it’s way more creative to collect your look.
  7. Most important tip: laugh, be nonchalant, and always forget your age!
