When in London, do as the royals do
Whilst you and I went to a lovely yet somewhat dingy pub last weekend to have a beer or glass of wine, Pippa Middleton had a completely different night out. Pippa appreciates a party (much to the chagrin of the British Royal Household, by the way), and Saturday she was out and about in Mayfair, a neighbourhood in London with the most expensive, pretty, and most exclusive clubs and restaurants. We have spies everywhere and present you her Saturday evening so that you know where to go to during your next trip to London. Though preferably in a nice dress and high heels because don’t even think of going in jeans and sneakers.
The Wolseley
She didn’t begin the night at her favourite hotel The Belgraves, but in the chic restaurant The Wolseley. A beautiful classic restaurant with tall ceilings, black/white checkered floors, and many pillars of dark oak wood to give off that typical luxurious vibe. On the menu was a.o. Beluga caviar (€302,- per 50 grams), grilled talbot (€38,-), and for desert a Petit-Pot au Chocolat (€10,-).
Mahiki
After dinner she got in a taxi to Mahiki, a cocktail club where Prince Harry, William, and the nieces Beatrice and Eugenie have been spotted regularly. Mahiki is also know for their famous clientele and the relative easy door policy. Most exclusive clubs in London really won’t allow anyone to enter if they’re not Incredibly Important or bring along wheelbarrows of pounds, though Mahiki is a club us common mortals have a shot at entering. Once inside, you’ll order the ‘Treasure Chest’ just like Pippa did. All the cocktails on the menu have been especially designed for Mahiki, but with the Treasure Chest they managed to attract world fame. It’s an enormous container filled with champagne and vodka, which you can share with your friends for €160.
The Arts Club
After Mahiki, she got on a ricksha (seriously) to go to the next stop: The Arts Club. Now, we’ve arrived at the members only clubs with impressive balloting commissions. To start, it costs €1850 a year to become a member with a registration fee of €2421. Once a member, there’s a sort of bible with club rules, but then you’re able to go to an incredibly fun clubhouse with several restaurants, cafes, clubs, and very interesting club members like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Cattrall.
