RENS KROES IT IS

I can imagine it’s probably annoying to be constantly introduced as ‘the sister of’. But let me tell you, that’s going to change. Rens Kroes is on a roll. And not as a model (even though she’s breathtakingly gorgeous), but as health coach. She’s helping people with a healthier lifestyle for some time now, she’s even sharing delicious recipes on her website, and now she’s written a cookbook.

I told her about Amayzine’s Thank god it’s Friday. She told me she’d worked her bum off in her own mini kitchen behind a — luckily bigger — stove of her parents in Friesland, thinking of recipes. I was at the intimate pre launch of her cookbook yesterday. Powerfood. I enjoyed a homemade brunch for fifteen other journalists. Hummus, tahine, oatmeal porridge with coconut and dates, sugar free chocolate paste, spelt bread, fresh green juices, and other treats were awaiting us. It may sound a bit over-the-top healthy, but I really like a lunch like this.

The cookbook looks fresh and healthy. No glitter and glamour, it’s all just very pure. With gorgeous photos by Anne Timmer, who even photographed Rens like a real Doutzen (oops, there she is again).

Most recipes are easy to make and she’s shared some facts every now and again on why it’s good for you. Some recipes also tell you how much you need if you’re making it for one person. You don’t see that often, and I think that’s really handy. The coming weeks I’m going to cook a lot for my girlfriends. The book hits stores on Friday 6 June, but you can pre-order your copy on Bol.com.
