Balmain
When Olivier Rousteing took over Balmain two years ago, he instantly threw a pile of bling, glitter, and glamour on the drawing table. Balmain was expensive, grand, svelte, and very distinct. Long, slender brown legs with extremely short skirts and very sharp cheekbones, and je ne sais quoi hair, that’s Balmain. Or should I say, ‘was’? The S/S collection was a lot more down to earth and relaxed. “I wanted to explore something casual and sporty. It’s less evening and more real. It’s more me” Olivier said to Style.com backstage during a show. And we’ve got to admit, the brand appeared to have taken a completely new direction. Denim! Leather! Pied de poule! Chalk stripes! Checkers! That’s very different from the disco style from a year or two ago. Sadly, it’s still not quite affordable, but oh well, that’s what this shopping is for.
