Last show, ‘our’ girl with the pearl from Johannes Vermeer was the inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciolo at Valentino, though this year Pausolini’s film version of Medea was hanging on their mood board. We see extremely short dresses and skirts, topped off with calf-length, embroidered capes. The innocence from previous collections became a lot more mystical. Even flat sandals were inlaid with scarabs. Distinct, colourful, and ever feminine.
