I saw it stand there on my toiletries table this morning. Chanel N°5. Frontrow. Now everyone knows that Amayzine.com is a great fan of Chanel an sich, but this fragrance is really special to me. When my boyfriend and I were in Paris for the first time, he dragged me to the Chanel boutique because he just had to buy this fragrance for me. In the city of love. I know this must come across as over-the-top sweet, but I still get butterflies when I spray it. Enough to let me bathe in Chanel N°5 all day.

Ernest Beaux, Chanel’s 1921 perfumer, was asked by mademoiselle Coco to create a perfume that would smell like a woman. “a woman has to smell like a woman, not like a rose.” And mister Beaux created two perfume lines and Coco chose number 5. It was launched on the fifth of the fifth in 1921. Five was Coco Chanel’s lucky number. And lucky the perfum got. Today, it flies over the counter somewhere in the world every thirty seconds.
