Sunday = Baking Day

JET’s FAVOuRITE RECipes

So while angels Adriana, Doutzen, Candice and Alessandra literally sweat themselves into a sporting frenzy to appear super toned on the catwalk on December 9, I have an intense desire to get my hands dirty in flour, butter and sugar, thanks to the autumn weather. I know I know, not very Victoria Secret proof, but something that totally belongs with these chillier days. Warm madeleines, sticky brownies, meringue with red fruits or a lovely piece of butter cake with tea. And we haven’t even started on agave syrup, dates, spelt flour or buckwheat or coconut oil. I mean, if we’re busy anyway then we should go all the way, right?

Recipes for shortbread or a simple cake are fairly easy and I can usually remember them, but I have favourite recipes for the best lemon tart or carrot cake (sounds a little healthy at least).

This raspberry cheese-cake is one of my all time favourites. Super simple and can even be made by those non kitchen-princesses amongst us.

This is the recipe.

Tip: Also good with Bastogne biscuits as a base, and I sometimes use regular flour in place of almond flour.

The best carrot cake ever. Don’t be shocked by the gigantic shopping list, it is what it is and you can also make delicious gluhwein with the spices at a later stage. So, have I managed to convince you?

This is a Jamie (sigh…) recipe and is actually meant for Christmas, but far too yummy to wait that long. It is a very sticky warm apple tart with caramel sauce. If you think that’s a little too heavy, serve it up with a scoop of crème fraîche. Here is the recipe. Be warned, Jamie’s site can lead to increased visits to the gym.

Madeleines. Best served directly from the oven. The recipe is not that difficult, but I admit that it took me a few attempts before I managed to bake them without their middles rising up (do you know what I mean?). It is quite an art to make the perfect madeleines. I’m curious how yours come out the first time

Tip: Also delicious with lemon zest or cocoa powder through the batter.

Happy Sunday!
