MISSION MODEL
I’m stinking jealous of Doutzen’s body, but I’m not sure whether I feel like taking the journey that’s needed to get eight cubes on your stomach, super skinny legs, armpits that are fat-free, become chinless, and especially not having Oprah Winfrey arms. It’s very unsexy and especially boring if you’re more often at the gym than at home, that you’re only drinking water during dinner, always go to bed early and strictly eat cooked carrots. Right? I’m not sure, perhaps a woman should compensate between the sheets. Every man would like to have a sexy body like that in bed.
I thought I was doing a good job by going to the gym three times with my personal trainer, but I don’t think it’s enough. Happy girls are the prettiest, right? So who cares about a bit of cellulite or a fatty here or there?
Still have the ambition to go for this body? Or would you just like to know how they do it? Here a couple of tips and tricks from celebs.
Hire personal trainer Dan Roberts. He trains many models a month before they’re hitting the runway. This is his method.
Food
A very strict diet with lots of egg whites. That means at least six eggs a day. Only the white, not the yellow. Carbs with fibres (oatmeal) and healthy fats (salmon) are a must. Wheat, sugar and dairy have to cut entirely.
When you hire Dan, he does your grocery shopping and cooks for you. He throws your muesli in your quark and sends you off with fresh fruit and his ideal egg with spinach and almonds breakfast.
Working out
The real intense workout starts three weeks before fashion week. A different sport about twice a day: athletics, yoga, pilates, kickboxing, weight lifting, and running. And the models often get homework too. Some exercises on the floor, a small circuit if they have the opportunity, though a full body circuit training is the best training there is. Lots of exercises right after the other. “It keeps them thin” Dan says.
Now I happen to know what such a circuit means, it’s in-cre-di-bly intense. I was waving kettle bells around this morning at the gym, stepping on and off steps, bathing in sweat only to dance around with weights lifted above my head. Every exercise lasts a minute and you need to move as much as possible, which is a downright art in itself.
It’s little use skipping meals because it has the opposite effect. Don’t go to bed too late because you’ll wake up tiredly. Sleeping is the most important part of the exercise. The more you sleep, the skinnier you’ll get.
Right, you need to adapt your entire lifestyle and find Dan in your life, but then you’ll look like a supermodel. Well, bodywise. Now all you need is the face.
