Have you always wondered what the life of an editor-in-chief was like? I’m taking you with me on a trip through my week. As I’m writing this, I’m looking at an almost empty bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, the very finest champagne out there. I’m drinking it with my love because tomorrow I’m leaving for New York. Solomon Grey is playing in the background.

Monday

The first day in our new office. We moved on Sunday, under the critical watch of my daughters who came with for fun. I have butterflies as I drive towards the office, it’s so lovely that work is going to be even more of a party. The only little min-point is that Jet is away on vacation. Totally deserved and with my blessing but we miss her presence straight away.

Tuesday

The HNTM team all gathered in front of the Endemol production building at 09:30. As I arrive with Dirk Kikstra, I see executive producer Riena and executive Femke standing there and almost feel like I’m back in New York. We’re meeting about the shoot that we’ll be doing with the four remaining finalists. There’s cake waiting because the ratings have been so good. We have champagne in the afternoon to celebrate HNTM and that the Amayzine.com numbers are going through the roof.

Wednesday

A chill day at the office. It’s not always glamour on the left and va-va-voom on the right.

Thursday

I had an interview planned with Marit Simons, founder of Code management. AKA the person who discovered Imaan Hamam AKA the hottest model of the moment. Guess what? My loyal Range Rover won’t start. I call the AA Patrol and then postpone, with sadness in my heart, the appointment with Marit. Is it possible that my loyal ride can tell that I’m secretly a little in love the the new Renault Twingo? The difference in petrol costs and road taxes could mean that I’d be able to become intensely good friends with the men from Proenza Schouler, Victoria or the girl from The Row.

Friday

The alarm goes off early. New York Fashion Week is on the menu. After an extreme shoe-fight, it’s my five year old daughter that finally brings order to the shoe chaos. Prada, Dior en Jimmy Choo may go with. The rest are staying at home. Painful. Ok. I humbly obey.

Onwards to Schiphol. To Peggy and Liesbeth, and a thousand adventures.

Have a lovely weekend!
