Through the Carwash
The Amsterdam Fashion Week started yesterday evening. Claes Iversen kicked it off with a show to rival all shows, with all the fashion and beauty loving Dutchies in attendance. Zenner, Make-up Studio and CND Shellac organized a ‘front-row ready’ event to ensure that all beauty press were in tip-top shape for the evening.
Gosh was I ever glad to belong to the beauty press. I was treated like a real princess. Tom Sebastian warmly greeted me with a cocktail in hand. I was immediately offered a chair and two people curled my hair, yes you read that right – two people, during which time my nails were polished and Tom completed my party makeup look. Absolute indulgence. Everything over in a half hour though, not a minute longer, because Amsterdam Fashion Week means running and flying from one show to the next.
Here are three essential tips learned yesterday for making it all happen in a half hour (and for achieving the same effect at home):
1. Always pay attention to your nails. You immediately look cleaned and preened and is the finishing touch to every outfit. For that little extra touch, add glitter to the ring finger. It only takes one finger, so not too much extra effort, for a sparkling extra.
2. Invest in hair accessories. You may not have loads of time to get your hair front-row proof, but a hair accessory cranks it all up a notch. Currently large and extravagant is the trend, but it could also be a tiny gold hair clip. Radiates luxury and class, which we all want. Oh and talking about hair, I would always keep a stock of powder at home. Tom chucked like an entire pot in my hair, but I had volume all night long. So remember the powder.
3. Red lips. Yesterday I wrote a post about how red lips keep attention the longest, a man’s attention, but it is also chic, radiates class and dots all the i’s. A red lip is the least you can do when you have little time to do yourself up. You can achieve the look with just a pencil according to Tom. This way it’ll stay lovely and matte. It might fade after an hour or two, but that adds to the charm. I had my doubts, but Tom was right. Even after two hours. Beautiful.
