how to survive those long evenings

– tips for long lasting make-up –

Look, if you’re celebrating Christmas with your in-laws, it’s perfectly understandable that you’ll want to take a few toilet breaks to redo your make-up and escape the madness. But if you’re at the coolest party ever or you’re sitting with a group of fabulous people at a table, you won’t want to miss a single moment. And you certainly don’t want your make-up running down your face at that coolest party either. Preparation, that is what it’s all about. Primers, Finishings Sprays and Setting Sprays are your best friends.

Start with a primer. The primer is a layer between the skin and the make-up. It protects against the potential ‘influences’ of make-up and allows it to stay on longer. Foundation won’t rub off, and it evens the skin tone so it applies more smoothly. A primer therefore ensures a smooth skin without lines and pores. A great basis to create your look on.

Once you’re finished decking yourself out, you can use a finishing spray or a setting spray.

Are you going for a smokey-eye? Use an eyeshadow primer. It makes sure that the eyeshadow stays on longer and that it doesn’t stick in the arch of your lid,  and it ensures a good effect from the colours. Black looks really black not grey, and a golden cream will shine instead of looking like taupe. Try some primer under your eye and then apply concealer over that. It’ll stay on longer so your eyes don’t end up looking tired at the end of the dinner.

Once you’re finished decking yourself out, you can use a finishing spray or a setting spray. The first makes sure that powdery make-up sits better with a fine sheen and a setting spray makes sure your make-up stays put for hours. A finishing spray also cares for the skin while a setting spray fixes everything.

Good, now you can go shopping. Throw the most important things in the basket, be inspired for next week and now you won’t need to worry about running mascara or patchy foundation either.
