CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE S/S14

It’s a fashion moment which Kimye and ADR even dread, and it’s also the highlight of Paris Fashion Week: Chanel’s haute couture show. Tuesday was the day the biannual spectacle took place in the Grand Palais, and the 80 year old Karl Lagerfeld didn’t disappoint. We can endlessly tell you about how, what, where because of our never ending love affair with Chanel. But instead of doing this, we’ll get to the point and made a list of the three most striking things:

Sneakers

Sneakers have been a success for quite some time. Nike Air Max celebrates its heyday and Isabel Marant’s wede sneakers were a huge success. But Karl gave us a little bit extra by having his models walk his couture show on sneakers. Well, walk.. perhaps run is a better word because the ladies were instructed to walk extremely quickly. The sneakers à la Lagerfeld was black, pink or white, with glitters and lace shoelaces. Fans who’d like to buy a pair should start saving up. Since they cost 3,000 euros a pair. The sneakers are handmade in Massaro’s atelier that is owned by the French fashion house. Supposedly, they cost about 30 hours to fabricate.

Wasp waists

Karl showed this season that it’s all about the waist. His newest version of the Chanel suit shows a crop top paired with a skirt that dangled on her hips which really showed off her ultra thin waist. Gorgeous.

Cara Delevingne

Queen Delevingne opened and closed the Chanel show being one of his muses. During the finale she appeared as a bride in an ethereal, transparent dress with veil and feather headdress and sneakers, and was accompanied by the five year old Hudson Kroenig, Karl’s godchild.
