I have this problem in Holland too, never mind in New York. You finally have an evening free, you feel like good food and then it happens, the total restaurant black-out. Before you know it, you’re back on the terrace at The Standard Grill, and that’s fun, lots of fun, but you know and feel that there must be another place, an even cooler place, not far from here. So…pay attention all, for when you’re in New York and to make sure you do not end up at all those cliche places.

191 Chrystle Street

Freemans is at the end of a dead-end alley, so you would never find it unless you know it’s there. Rustic American food is served and you should try to sit outside. Although you may not talk too loudly so as not to bother the neighbours.

16 Bank Street

Imagine a typically New York inner-square, with fire escape ladders. The restaurant is made up of all little rooms and chairs. Seriously cozy and the coolest people. It’s located in a very lovely neighbourhood with all brown stone homes. A village in a big city. The food is okay and quote pricy, but hey you’ll have an amazing evening.

0 Wythe Ave at N 11th Williamsburg Brooklyn

Ultra hip place with the most amazing views of Manhattan. Take a coat with you because it can get a little chilly on the the rooftop.
