Win the YSL film (and the book)

l’Amour fou, the documentary where Pierre Bergé declares his love for Yves Saint Laurent. I have honestly seen it about 134 times already. I confess, it could be 137 times. Especially that one little line “Et voilà” when Pierre Bergé explains how he got to be flying in a private jet from Paris to Deuville. It was too far to drive for the weekend so he bought a little jet and took some flying lessons.

I was totally excited about the YSL film coming out but I also had feelings of trepidation. My Yves, My Pierre, would it all end well if preserved in fiction? The real Pierre said that he was happy with the result after he had seen it. Some parts were confrontational (me thinks, me thinks, there is a lot of drinking, drug using in the home of Saint Laurent and quite a few men worn out) he said, but he was still pleased. And if Pierre is pleased, then so am I.

The film showcases some true couture pieces from the time, the YSL headquarters and we see Yves stealing Karl Lagerfeld’s boyfriend (must be the reason for the continuous animosity between the two). Yes, I have enjoyed. His men, his women but mostly the unrivalled beautiful fashion.
