yearning for YVES
After l’Amour Fou, that beautiful documentary about the life and especially the art collection of Yves Saint Laurant and his beloved business partner Pierre Bergé, our fashion eye’s already starving for a new epos. And it’s almost time. YSL, the movie is on its way.
Protagonist Pierre Niney looks so much like the young Yves that Pierre Bergé had to suppress a tear because Yves was suddenly so close.
We can’t wait to see the film because the director had access to 77 vintage couture pieces and 1500 other Yves pieces. He was also allowed to film at Yves Saint Laurant’s head quarters on the Avenue Marceau in Paris.
It promises to be an honest portrait, also addressing Yves’s depression. “There are details I don’t like”, Bergé said after seeing the film. “But they are of no importance whatsoever. You have to take the movie as it is and see it as a whole.”
The film will hit cinemas on 10 April, but we’re going to the premiere on Monday. And, of course, will immediately write up a report.
