to never let go of Dior Sauvage

May-Britt and I have had the privilege of sniffing this new fragrance before it came out but now we finally get to hold it in our hands we are never going to let go of this amazing Dior fragrance. We have five very good reasons that I’ll hastily share with you. You’ll be itching and twitching in your seat, ready for takeoff to your nearest store to get it.

All Dior male fragrances are much loved and frequently seen on dressing tables. But now, ten years past, it’s time for something new. François Demachy, parfumeur-créateur for Dior, set his nose to work and wanted to revive an old classic in a modern way. Sauvage was born. The name sounds energetic and powerful, mirroring the image of the fragrance. A fragrance that summons the images of a sturdy wind crossing wide-open fields. How that translates? Bergamot combined with exciting ingredients: elemi, szechuan pepper and pink pepper, vetiver and geranium. Sounds very hefty but it’s a rugged fragrance that’s also very refreshing. A fragrance that every man needs.

The bottle, or to talk posh; the flacon, is luxury with a capital L. A fitting opulence to the fragrance. The shape of the bottle represents the manliness of the fragrance, the cap is ribbed, black and shiny and displays the CD-signature letters. When pushing down the cap you hear a satisfying click. And there’s a little extra something hidden away on the inside of the cap, the sign of a bee, Dior is all about detail.

I don’t think this needs a lot of explaining. Johnny Depp has never been the face of a fragrance, let alone any other campain, so him taking on the job says it all. While usually stepping into the roll of a pirate or a scissor-man he now merely plays himself. A breath of fresh air that is.

With Johnny in the lead we’re talking high-class film. Jean-Baptiste Mondino directed this. He also worked with David Bowie, Madonna, Vanessa Paradis and Lenny Kravitz on their video clips. I say watch it. Then every time you smell that fragrance you’ll daydream about the film and the location.

Put it on you guy’s shelf in the bathroom and you are guaranteed a good night. What am I saying; life. A good life. You don’t only make him happy, yourself as well because I’ll tell you; this is the best he is ever going to smell in the morning.
