5 wrong things you’ve been doing with your skin

Of course everyone is obediently keeping their skin well hydrated,  adds a bit of SPF for the necessary sun protection and washes their face twice a day; once in the morning and once in the evening. Hmm, okay I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here as to whether you really do follow this step-by-step schedule. But here a few tips to better your daily smearing ritual making your skin happier and radiant.

cotton wool

Don’t use cotton wool.  It’s best to use facial washes without them because they clog up your pores. Even when you are using a product specifically for cleansing your face, go for something that foams or a cleansing milk which you apply with your fingers.

SPF

An SPF shouldn’t only be pulled out when the sun is out. Use it throughout the entire year, because even in the winter you might be exposed to a few beams of sunlight and it’s not an unnecessary luxury. Really, this is the ideal way to grow old wrinkle free.

Steam train for your skin

Spending a minute or so with your head dangling above your teakettles steam just so happens to be good for your skin. Your outer skin layer is softened and your blood vessels dilate. This improves the blood transfusion of your skin resulting in a radiant face.

overnight work

Nighttime is when your skin really comes to rest and the best time for your facial creams to ooze in. Facemasks are great for your skin but applying them in the morning really doesn’t do much good. You are probably so caught up in your morning rituals that your skin gains absolutely no benefit from a mask. If you do it in the evening though, it is well worth the money and when you wake up it will certainly be visible.

Customize your cream

Be aware that every type of cream is different and is meant for specific things. Sounds nice, but be sure to see whether it fits your skin type. Skin types vary and have distinct demands, so don’t just go grabbing random creams off the shelf. Have a look at which ingredients it contains, for which skin type it has been made and what intention is of the cream.
